Are you Prepared?

This is a simple reminder to make sure everyone has all the basic essemtials in case of an emergency.

First the general rules of Three..
1. A person can go 3hrs. w/o shelter
2. A person can go 3 days. w/o water
3. A person can go 3 weeks w/o food
4. A person can go 3 months w/o love. Love translates into hope. If you have
nothing to live for why live. Most people who are lost start to strugle at
this point. "Dont give up!"

Did you know that most people only have enought food and water in there homes to go 3 days w/o restocking or making a trip to the grocier store. In case of an emergency. I.E. Earthquake, major storm, terrorism. It would take the federal government up to 72hrs. to get emergency aid to you.

Take the time to prepare yourselves.
-You will need at least one gal. of water per. person per day.
-Dont buy expensive MRE's or survival food (ever though they taste soooo good). Just buy what you normally buy just on bigger scale. Rotate your supplies so that it always stays fresh.
-Other items to include a good flashlight and extra batteries, a first aid kit and an emergency radio.
-Last but not least you need to protect this stash and your loved ones with a good reliable firearm. Sorry folks its a harsh world out there and someone may attempt to take your stuff or worse. Your life.

This is my very first thread so please bare with me. I thought with hurricane seasone and gas going thrue the roof a little reminder was in order. thanks.

Carb, I love your signature!! That’s great!

Good post, I was just thinking of this kind of thing last week. I realized that we don’t have enough water which isn’t good. I’m totally about preparedness and let me tell you did we learn out lesson trapped in the canyon during the pineapple express, Noah's ark like precipitation this past Jan!

Afterward I got a lot of glow sticks, these are great when the juice is lost. And yes the firearm situation is important. The living/security issue in the canyon is similar to Lizards. I have a 9mm pistol and .270 Winchester but only the pistol is ready to go.

Oh, and I need a good shortwave radio, I have a scanner but it's only to 400 MHz which isn’t very helpful as almost everybody other than the sheriff transmits at higher frequencies. I can get the NOAA station.

Despite living smack dab in the middle of a large suburban community and right off one of the busiest streets in the valley I still keep a trunk full of supplies. First Aid kit (to treat practically anything that could happen, short of my head exploding) , Enough water to last me about 2 weeks with a little bit of rationing, and enough small food items to last me about two weeks as well. Of course in my closet sits my USP .45 with a loaded mag of Federal Hydra-Shok JHP's... and I'm a person who enjoys continual training on the use of a handgun in a self defense situation. Which is a nice way of saying if you come to hurt me, or come to steal and try to hurt me in the commision of said crime your ass is grass. I have maintained a preparedness kit for years, it was instilled in me back in the '94 quake that you have to be ready for anything.

Granted I'm not prepared with gas masks and chemical suits but hey you can only plan for so much... besides if I have to truly live in a world scared of a sarin gas attack or anthrax floating in my window I'm not so sure I'd want to be alive still.

thanks vega...You guys sound like a well prepared bunch. To bad you all live far away. It would be nice to live close with a group of like minded individuals in case of emergencies.

Well, tech kinda scares me. I'll call before I come over....ha. ha.

this is great post, good job Carb.

My cousin (not the one leaving for Iraq) is an ex SEAL and he has a hidden cache buried somewhere in the local area. I need to get my stuff a little better organized, just in case. You just never know.

Again, great job Carb!!!

The range across from conquest is pretty sweet... its like one of the only rifle ranges in the area. Everything else is mostly indoor pistol and non-center fire rifle ranges. Other than of course Oak tree gun club which is pretty good... they have some nice shotgun ranges and such.

I was considering taking some krav maga (israeli martial art type self defense) classes or something, because they teach some good weapon disarming procedures and such which I'm quite interested in. So along with being a good marksman and responsible gun owner I can know how to get weapons away from people intending to do harm without having to resort to using another weapon. Kicker knows some good ranges as well, and is quite into the firearm scene. I still need to go shooting with him too..
